Family of Type
Baskerville

Baskerville, designed by the Englishman John Baskerville in 1757, is an excellent example of a Transitional typeface. Transitional typefaces are so-called because they form a bridge between the Old Style and the Modern faces. Compared to the Old Style, Baskerville shows greater contrast between the thicks and thins, serifs are less heavily bracketed, and the stress is almost vertical. The letters are very wide for their z-height, are closely fitted, and are of excellent proportions -- making Baskerville one of the most pleasant and readable faces.Baskerville 18 pt, 24 pt Leaded Saturday, 16 April 2011
Anatomy of Type
My poster on Anatomy of Type
1.Anatomy of Type
Type glyphs are modified using a variety of illustration techniques. The arrangement of type involves the selection of typefaces, point size, line leng th, leading (line spacing), adjusting the spaces between g roups of letters (tracking) and adjusting the space between pairs of letters (kerning ). Type desig n is a closely related craft, which some consider distinct and others a part of typography; most typographers do not design typefaces, and some type designers do not consider themselves typographers.
2.TYPEFACE ANATOMY OR LETTER ANATOMY
REFERS TO THE INDIVIDUAL SEGMENTS AND
FEATURES OF A PARTICULAR CHARACTER.
CERTAIN PIECES ARE COMMON TO MOST
CHARACTERS AND SOME ARE UNIQUE TO ONLY
ONE OR TWO CHARACTERS IN A TYPEFACE.

5. Typog raphy is per formed by typesetters, compositors, typographers, graphic designers, art directors, comic book artists, graffiti artists, and clerical workers. Until the Digital Age, ty pography was a speci alized occupation. Digitization opened up typography to new generations of visual designers and lay users.
Typography (from the Greek words = form and writing ) is the art and technique of arranging type, and sometimes modifying typeglyphs. FONTS
